Update your profile
Some of the features of the website are optional and the first thing you should
do is to
update your profile
to be able to access these features
PN Local
This is an exciting new way to use the practicenursing.co.uk website. All you need
to do is enter your postcode or address. This then allows you to access a map which
is centered on your location. This location is not available to others. Note: the
postcode entry will ignore the last 2 digits so you may find that the location is
not exact - you can fine adjust the position of your location by following the instructions
on the preview map page you will see after entering your location. You can delete,
move or add locations (e.g. work or home) at any time by selecting
Local/Modify Locations.
If you want to offer to be a mentor then you can
update your profile
and you will be visible to logged in PNLocal members in your area. You will not
appear on the
Public Map
Plans in the future are to include on the
Public Map
local website links, local events etc - let us know if you would like other features
added. Currently jobs and jobseekers will be visible if they enter a location when
posting their job or cv.
PN Jobs
This is similar to the old jobpage - the new features including the following
- allow a closing date on the job
- post a link to the job/cv on the public map on PNlocal
- edit or delete the job/cv.
PN Wiki (Knowledge Base)
This is probably the hardest new feature to understand but if enough of
you get involved should be the most useful. Basically it is a knowledge base which
allows anyone who has logged in to enter new information, edit and delete existing
information. It is basically a website that the whole practicenursing community
can create together. It is based on the extremely successful wikipedia and uses
exactly the same software.
What it needs is for some of us to start entering information useful to other practice
nurses. Even if you don't contribute the original information please correct anything
you see that is wrong and if anyone enters information that is inappropriate you
can delete it. The more that get involved the more useful it will become - it's
up to you.
To add new information you must be logged in. You can start a new topic area by
adding a link to the
contribution page
PN Community
This is a completely separate webspace (you will need to register separately if you want
to use it)
It is a social networking site allowing the ability to post blogs, publish photos,
chat etc. It is provided to allow you to meet / communicate with other practice
nurses in a more social setting. | |
